We’re going to start posting up summaries of things that catch our eye each week. Most of them are items we’ve noticed on Twitter.
If you love India travel, there should be something here for you.
If you’ve seen something interesting and relevant, don’t be shy: post your links in the comments below and share your finds.
The old vegetable market in Udaipur
Ajay over on the excellent Kunzum blog has put together a nice music-driven slideshow of images from Udaipur’s fruit and veg market. There’s a lovely narrative running through it that tells the stories of some of the traders.
VIDEO: Rajasthan Folk Festival
The Guardian (UK) covers this highly regarded festival of music and culture, staged in Jodhpur.
Dave&Deb prepare for India
Popular Canadian travel bloggers Dave&Deb look forward to their first India trip. Their anticipation, apprehension and excitement leaps out of this post, making it a fun read. Check out their itinerary too – it’ll make you jealous. We would be delighted to welcome them to a homestay.
Do you speak Hinglish?
Mariellen’s review of Indian English, a new book from Lonely Planet, made us add the book to our wishlist. It sounds fascinating if the highlights picked out are anything to go by. Interesting to note for example that Hindi grammar construction reflects in Indian English (You have a job, isn’t it?). And possibly an influence on modern British youth speak?
Tenzing Norgay, Everest’s other man
Finally we liked this piece about the Darjeeling sherpa who perhaps hasn’t had the recognition he should – possibly the first to climb Everest in front of Edmund Hillary. He would have excelled no doubt at our India mountain views quiz.
