The Deccan Plateau is a large plateau in the southern part of India. It rises a hundred meters high in the north, and over a kilometre high in the south, forming a raised triangle within the familiar downward-pointing triangle of the Indian subcontinent’s coastline.

Our newest itinerary allows you to see some of the highlights of the Deccan Plateau, from the vibrant cities of Bangalore and Mysore to the laid back scenic hill stations of Wayanad and Coorg.

Soak up the youthful energy and explore the green spaces in the city of Bangalore. Visit the Bangalore palace and gardens.

 


This famous Shiva statue is 65 feet high and is located on the Airport Road just behind Kemp Fort. The statue attracts thousands of devotees during the Maha Shivarathri festival in February.

 


With it’s regal heritage and rich history there are plenty of sights to visit in Mysore. Don’t miss the spectacular Mysore Palace which is illuminated on Saturdays and Sundays. During festivals such as Diwali the palace is lit up every night.

 


The beautiful Sri Chamundeshwari Temple is another popular attraction in Mysore not to miss.

 


Dive into an explosion of colour at the Mysore market.

 


Visit the hill station of Coorg and explore the fragrant spice and coffee plantations that line the green hills.

 


Coorg is a great destination for trekking with the forested hills offering spectacular viewpoints.

 


Wayanad in Kerala offers another opportunity to explore plantations. Neat tea gardens line the winding roads of the region.

 


Sunrise valley in Wayanad offers dramatic mountain scenery with mist rising from the teak forests that line the valley.

 


Wayanad’s Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary is a great place for spotting wild elephants.
