Competitions, Featured

Our popular Photo of the Month contest is now open for October. While the contest is mainly for fun and inspiration, there is a prize for the chosen winner! The winner can chose from either $15USD/£10 Amazon.com voucher or PayPal credit.

This month our theme is souvenirs!

In India you can pick up a whole variety of souvenirs, from brightly coloured low co st bangles to beautiful pieces of art. We recently picked out some of our favourite souvenirs in our travel tips post, souvenirs from India. This month we are using this as our theme for our monthly photo competition. Your photos can either be of souvenirs you have picked up on your travels, or shots of interesting stalls, shops, or crafts people at work.

There are a number of subjects that fit with the theme of souvenirs:

  • Your own souvenirs
  • Interesting stalls and shops
  • Crafts people at work

Take a look at the pictures below for inspiration of the type of shots we are looking for:

You can enter in four ways

Supply your image and a brief description of where the photo was taken in one of the following ways:

On Facebook: Just post your image to the wall as usual

On Flickr: Add your image to the Photo of the Month group

On Twitter: Tweet the image and include our Twitter name @indianhomestays

On the Blog: Leave us a comment below with a link to the image that you would like to enter.

Make sure you caption your photo to let us know where in India it was taken!

You can enter more than once – you may submit up to 5 images if you wish. You may also re-enter an image you have submitted for a previous competition if you feel that it fits the theme, as long as it has not been previously short listed.

The deadline for entries is 24 October 2011. Good luck everyone – and thanks for taking part.

My friend, Vignesh, waits to cross the road, at Leh, Ladakh before a bunch of us entered the music shop to check out some local music. It was great that the shop was promoting local musicians rather than the commercial stuff we come across everyday.
