Photo of the month competition: May 2011

Our popular Photo of the Month contest is now open for May. While the contest is mainly for fun and inspiration, there is a prize for the chosen winner!

This month our theme is Indian hill stations!

Our destination of the month for May is Mount Abu, the only hill station in the desert state of Rajasthan. A hill station is a high-altitude town, perfect as a place of refuge from the summer heat. Wikipedia have a useful list of hill stations in India.

Indian hill stations are a photographer’s paradise, with snowy peaks, green valleys, lush plantations, thundering waterfalls and peaceful lakes offering plenty of postcard perfect shots.

Make sure you caption your photo to let us know where in India it was taken!

You can enter in four ways

Supply your image and a brief description of where the photo was taken in one of the following ways:

On Facebook: Just post your image to the wall as usual

On Flickr: Add your image to the Photo of the Month group

On Twitter: Tweet the image and include our Twitter name @indianhomestays

On the Blog: Leave us a comment below with a link to the image that you would like to enter.

You can enter more than once – you may submit up to 5 images if you wish. You may also re-enter an image you have submitted for a previous competition if you feel that it fits the theme, as long as it has not been previously short listed.

The deadline for entries is 23 May 2011. Good luck everyone – and thanks for taking part.

How the competition works

After the submission deadline passes we will put up a shortlist of our favourite entries – with links to their owners – and asking our blog readers to pick a winner.

We block repeat voting from the same user to keep it fair. To find out more about how we do this please get in touch.

All copyright remains with the photographer. By entering the competition, you grant Mahindra Homestays the non-exclusive right to display your entered image on our blog in conjunction with the competition only with full credit and a link back to your own site. Entering your picture into this competition indicates that you have accepted these conditions.
