No matter where in India you are visiting, a trip to the local market will you plenty to point your camera lens at. From bright cones of die, colourful fresh fruit and vegetables to garlands of flowers and exotic spices Indian markets are a sensory overload.

Stunning images of Goa and Maharashtra beaches

With over 40 mesmerizing beaches dotting the 131 km-long palm-fringed coastline, Goa is a beach lovers dream destination. From party beaches with all night revelry to hidden sun-kissed coves where you won’t see another soul, Goa has something for everyone.

Not to be outdone, neighbouring state Maharashtra also boasts a fantastic selection of golden sands alongside famous sights like the Sindhudurg Fort.

Our Go Goa itinerary combines both to give you plenty of opportunity to combine both destinations and relax and enjoy the best of coastal India. We’ve picked some of our favourite photos of the beaches and places that are part of this trip.

Fresh seafood is plentiful; visit the fish market at Margao for some great picture opportunities and to pick up some fresh fish.

It’s not just the humans who enjoy the shade of the tall palms dotted along Colva beach.

Sindhudurg fort is of the best preserved forts of the Marathas and occupies an islet in the Arabian Sea, just off the coast of Maharashtra.

When you are all beached out, visit Amboli a British era hill station in Maharashtra as a day trip. Pictured are the impressive Kavlesaad waterfalls.

The stark, stunning beauty of Ladakh will impress even the seasoned travellers as you drive or fly over snow capped mountains into the region. Considered among the most extreme of environments, Leh with its gorgeous mountains, its arid desert terrain sprinkled with ancient Buddhist monasteries, and its dignified popplar trees is a photographers dream destination and the natural beauty means that as long as you have a camera you are guaranteed some amazing photos of your trip.

The relatively warmer months of May to October are the perfect time to visit this breathtaking region. We pick out our 10 favourite photos of Ladakh and Leh.

The Deccan Plateau – 10 stunning photos

The Deccan Plateau is a large plateau in the southern part of India. It rises a hundred meters high in the north, and over a kilometre high in the south, forming a raised triangle within the familiar downward-pointing triangle of the Indian subcontinent’s coastline.

Our newest itinerary allows you to see some of the highlights of the Deccan Plateau, from the vibrant cities of Bangalore and Mysore to the laid back scenic hill stations of Wayanad and Coorg.

We’ve rounded up 10 of our favourite photos which capture some of the diversity of the different places you’ll visit on the Deccan trail.

Soak up the youthful energy and explore the green spaces in the city of Bangalore. Visit the Bangalore palace and gardens.

This famous Shiva statue is 65 feet high and is located on the Airport Road just behind Kemp Fort. The statue attracts thousands of devotees during the Maha Shivarathri festival in February.

With it’s regal heritage and rich history there are plenty of sights to visit in Mysore. Don’t miss the spectacular Mysore Palace which is illuminated on Saturdays and Sundays. During festivals such as Diwali the palace is lit up every night.

The beautiful Sri Chamundeshwari Temple is another popular attraction in Mysore not to miss.

Dive into an explosion of colour at the Mysore market.

Visit the hill station of Coorg and explore the fragrant spice and coffee plantations that line the green hills.

Coorg is a great destination for trekking with the forested hills offering spectacular viewpoints.

Wayanad in Kerala offers another opportunity to explore plantations. Neat tea gardens line the winding roads of the region.

Sunrise valley in Wayanad offers dramatic mountain scenery with mist rising from the teak forests that line the valley.

Wayanad’s Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary is a great place for spotting wild elephants.

July Photo of the Month Competition Winner

We had five images short-listed for the July Photo of the Month competition and for the last week you have been voting for your favourite. This month we were looking for an image inspired by the colour green.

Congratulations to Roshan Rajendran who has been voted as the winner. His image of a waterfall in Thekkady, Kerala surrounded by lush green foliage was voted for by 143 people.

May photo contest winner and some amazing hill station photography

We had four images short-listed for the May Photo of the Month competition and for the last week you have been voting for your favourite.

The theme this month was hill stations of India and we had some excellent entries. The winner was Jibran Bashir with his stunning image of Dal Lake in Srinagar.

Jibran has a great collection of hill station photos and actually submitted several for the competition. Here are a few more of his photos. Check out his Flickr page to see more.

Kashmir Tulip garden is the sprawling Asia’s biggest tulip garden in Jammu and Kashmir summer capital Srinagar. It holds thousands of flowers impart a mesmerising ambience to this 90-acre tourist attraction in the Valley.
